In 1935 European Grand Prix racing was organized and scored by the Association Internationale des Automobile Clubs Reconnus, AIACR for short. The races were organized by local auto clubs and the AIACR facilitated the scoring and the race schedule.
Drivers participated in the races and were awarded points based on their performance. The first place finisher scored one point, second two points and so on. At the end of the season the driver with the lowest point total was crowned the champion.
There was one odd thing about the scoring however, while 1st, 2nd and 3rd scored 1, 2, and 3 points anyone who finished the race scored 4. If you completed 75% of the race you scored 5, 50% scored 6, 25% scored 7 and if you didn't start you scored 8.
Since we will be doing 3 laps it will be easy to determine 75% (lap 3), 50% (lap 2) and 25% (lap 1) for those of us that crash out early.
Speaking of crashing: each player will be a manager of a racing club or team. You'll have 3 cars and 3 drivers but you'll only race one at a time. Your other two cars will be racing virtually around the track and if they are not used during the race they are considered to have finished earning you 4 points. If you crash you earn points for which ever lap you crashed on and then employ one of your virtual cars to continue the race.
Thus each team / player will have 3 scores at the end of the race. These scores will be averaged (rounded down) and count for your team's race score. Each week these scores will be added together to help determine who is winning and who is losing.
At the end of the season (11 races) we will drop the highest two scores (remember low scores wins) and if you performed particularly well in the final race, the European Championship, you can use that race's score to replace another score. So at the end you can drop two and replace one. These 9 scores will be totaled and we will crown a champion.
Confused? It's not really that hard. Just try to finish first, and do that every time we race. If you do I guarantee you'll be the champion.
